It's been awhile

Well its definitely been awhile since I posted last. I have moved but am still in the process of unpacking. I am making some changes around here. The first and most important... I have decided to move to a new blog. My new name is Four Angels Boutique. It is still a work in progress but will be up and running smoothly soon. I'm working on some new items to list in the store so check back soon at the new address. Thanks for your patience and see you soon, new and improved.

Another Version

I love to follow the blog Made. Dana is so inspiring. She comes up with the neatest tips and tricks. She is also real and isn't afraid to share her mistakes along the way. I always look forward to her updates! She is so nice and shares her Tutorials for FREE! They are full of lots of pictures and very detailed instructions to make your projects happen.

With my newfound knowledge in dressmaking, I attempted the latest tutorial from Dana, The Warhol Dress. It is for another girls dress and uses a men's t-shirt. I had just gotten rid of my husbands old shirts but decided to use a few of mine as practice. Well, the armholes were way to big for my youngest but it turned out perfectly as a shirt for my oldest! Boy was she thrilled.

I will have to admit that I got so caught up in the excitement of my results that I tried again. Um, well that didn't go over so hot. I didn't dare snap a pic of it. Let's just say a lot of practice makes perfect!

Pillowcase Dresses

My Church group is donating and sending 100 dresses to an orphanage in Africa. With the help of the girls age 12-17 we made some simple pillowcase dresses to contribute. I am happy to say they sewed 17 dresses in one evening!

I, of course, had to try my hand at the easy pattern. Boy, is it easy peasy! I've been wanting to make one for a long time. Below are 2 examples that I whipped up! From start to finish they take about 20-30 minutes. Perfect for a summer dress or swimsuit cover-up!

This is 2 dresses in one. I love the summery butterflies!

A twist on the original version. This was made with my fabric scraps. I added a yoke on top to give the dress a little more shape. I even gave it a pocket for all her little treasures!

Ribbon Lovies

I started making Ribbon Lovies about 2 years ago and gave them as baby shower gifts. I like to think they are the perfect size snuggle blanket for your little one! They are great for on-the-go moms; just drop it in the diaper bag and go! You don't have to worry about dragging a big blanket around and getting it all dirty.

My Ribbon Lovies are made with 100% cotton front and smooth as a baby's bottom Minky on the back! Your little one will love to feel the minky and might even chew on the ribbon tags. The ribbon tags are also great for attaching your baby's pacifier or favorite toy! Don't worry I have made sure to reinforce the ribbon so as not to worry about a choking hazard.

The "Easton" Ribbon Lovie
I originally made Easton 2 Ribbon Lovies! He loved them so much. Over time he has lost both of them. His Grandma contacted me and asked me to make him another one. He had started dragging his big blanket around and it was getting dirty and filled with holes!

I love this big polka dot fabric by Riley Blake! It is all boy!

The "Ayden" Ribbon Lovie
This is a copycat of the orginal Ribbon Lovie. I made this for cousin's new baby boy almost 2 years ago. Ayden's mommy contacted me a few weeks ago and asked if I could make him another one. Apparently it goes everywhere with him! It was M.I.A. for a few hours and all was not well at home. I gladly agreed!

This beautiful fabric is by Amy Butler!
